18th Century Austrian Painted Bonnetiere ~ Petite Armoire is one of the most charming pieces we've found in over 3 decades in the business!  Commissioned for a lucky owner whose initials are J.R.B., it features the date at the top, and is completely painted inside and out, even on the back!  The angled, arched crown presides over the casework which features boldly mitered corners, with base molding at the bottom following the polygonal contours, resting on large bun feet.  Just above the feet is the drawer subtly painted with fern fronds, above which appears the aforementioned initials.  The door takes center stage with a contrasting background and an artful study of still life grandeur with flowers burgeoning from a Grecian urn.  The framework surrounding the door is festooned with wildflowers, with a different species of flowers appearing on the mitered cornerposts.  Not to be outdone, the sides are even carved with larger-than-life floral bouquets.  The door and drawer both open to reveal a completely painted interior with all its original shelves, all amazingly well-preserved and ready for another 4 or 5 generations!
