18th Century Rustic Country French Vitrine ~ Bonnetier is an early example of the genre, wherein a design was needed to both display and provide storage while offering a minimal footprint on the home's floorplan.  Perfect for showing off family heirlooms or special collectibles, it also offered lots of storage for just about everything else one could imagine, and was usually found in a family room in a place of honor, but could also be used anywhere in the home.  This example, rendered from dense, old-growth indigenous oak, has already surpassed it's 200th birthday with many more in its future.  An understated crown presides over the sturdy framework, with the full length door being the primary source of visual appeal.  The door is divided into three panels, the topmost of which is hand-blown glass to allow full view of one's collection.  Only 19" deep including the crown projection above, it promises to hug the wall to make a perfect piece for busy households.  Crafted entirely by hand using pegged mortise & tenon joinery, its rustic but sturdy construction is most evident in the view of the back side.
