19th Century Country French Normandie Vitrine ~ Bonnetiere was crafted from solid fruitwood in the traditional techniques handed down for generations! The subtle arched crown was nicknamed le chapeau de gendarme after its resemblance to the hats of police officials of a bygone era. A basket of flowers stands proud at the peak of the crown, a classic motif used by the artisans of the area for centuries. Additional floral and foliate motifs in bas relief adorn the remainder of the crown as well as the corresponding top of the single door, which is hung by a full length steel barrel hinge, accented by the fancy steel key guard on the opposite side. The lower door panel has been lavished with a musical theme superposed over wildflowers held together with ribbon, while a classic urn adorns the boldly scrolled apron. The original hand-rolled glass allows one to enjoy items displayed on the upper shelves, with discreet storage behind the aforementioned door panel. C'est Tres Francaise!
