19th Century Country French Vitrine ~ Bookcase from Normandie will make a fantastic addition to your decor, providing all the charm of the storied region while offering multiple adjustable shelves for extraordinary versatility.  Hand-crafted and carved from old-growth indigenous oak, it features the classic chapeau de gendarme arched cornice which appears above a bonnet carved with wildflowers and centered with a bouquet in a basket in full relief, trademark style cues from Normandie, where the artisans celebrate the natural beauty and blessings of their homeland using such symbolism.  Below the crown appear two full width drawers, hung with external steel hinges and separated into the upper three quarters which is fitted with the original hand-rolled glass for viewing the interior, and the lower section which is a lovely carved panel depicting an urn motif on each door for a classical touch.  Each panel is enhanced with wildflowers carved into the scrolled frame above and on both corners below.  The boldly scrolled apron below the doors continues the wildflower theme, but is centered with a shell motif, representative of the strong maritime history of the region, and is flanked by scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes and escargots.  Doors open wide to allow unfettered access to the interior, fitted with 5 removable and adjustable shelves for 6 total surfaces for storage and display.  Steel key guards add the finishing touch.
