19th Century Country French Vitrine from Normandie was crafted on an unusual scale by talented rural artisans using indigenous woods and skills handed down from generation to generation!  The subtle curve of the chapeau de gendarme crown flares out to give the piece its specified width, although the case is, and appears as such, much narrower.  Only 14" deep including the crown, it will fit in places no other piece can!  The richness of the old-growth oak has been lavished with carved detail including a basket bursting with flowers in glorious full relief on the bonnet, flanked by wildflower sprays.  Another bouquet appears at the top of the single glazed door just underneath the crown, with vertical pilasters carved with overlapping laurels all the way down and turning to meet at the bottom of the door, providing a stunning framework for whatever you decide to display within.  The door is hung with brass barrel hinges, but fitted with a steel ring pull on the full width drawer below.  Both the drawer and the apron have been left unadorned so as not to compete with your collection or the carvings above.  Four adjustable (and removable) shelves plus the floor create five surfaces to display anything your heart desires!
