Pair 19th Century English Brass Andirons ~ Bookends feature a timeless Edwardian flair with ball finials, flared and scrolled legs and a scrollwork in solid brass appearing between the front and back posts not only for decoration but serving as a structural reinforcement as well.  Such diminutive andirons were used in small rooms, especially bedrooms, where an appropriately small fireplace was all that was needed for the space.  Such items were made decorative to "liven up" an otherwise drab spot on the wall from whence the room derived its heating.  Because of their size, the pair makes an excellent choice as modern day bookends for display especially on the desktop or in a bookcase!
Circa 1890s
Each measures 9.5H x 5.5W x 7D
