18th Century Louis XVI Inlaid Stripped Oak Bookcase ~ Bibliotheque in the neoclassical style, hand-crafted from solid oak with a beautifully stripped finish that reveals the natural grain, texture, and patina of the wood.  Elegant and stately, the case is defined by its architectural balance, fluted column details, and acanthus-carved capitals, giving the façade an almost colonnade-like presence.
The upper glazed doors are framed with carved rope molding, while the case is further enriched with expertly executed rope inlay. Compass rose motifs appear throughout the design, from the rosette-like accents at the top to the decorative details on the lower doors, bringing a refined geometric rhythm to the entire piece.  The inlay is especially fine, creating an almost trompe l’oeil effect across the surface.
The lower section features two cabinet doors, two small drawers above, and a unique small center drawer, adding charm and originality to the design.  With its combination of stripped oak, carved neoclassical ornamentation, fluting, ropework, and compass rose inlay, this 18th century bookcase offers a rare balance of craftsmanship, symmetry, and antique character.
