19th Century French Louis XVI Blonde Walnut Bookcase will make an impressive focal point for any room!  Crafted from highly prized French walnut that was hand-selected for its lighter-than-normal appearance, the visual weight of the piece is lessened by the warm, less dark tones more common with such pieces.  The stately, rectilinear architecture inspired by ancient Greek and Roman masters is evident, starting at the gallery rail centered with an arched demilune carved with egg, drapery and ribbon.  On each corner are carved urn finials, with the entire gallery overlooking bold multi-tiered molding on the crown, including wraparound dentil.  The tailored crown overlooks two generously glazed doors each fitted with no less than 12 beveled panes and arched on the outside top corners.  A rosette conforming to the remaining space on the upper corner adds an interesting touch.  Each door is hung with external brass hinges and fitted with finely cast brass key guards as another indication of quality, and are separated by an astragal carved with spiral ribbon to cover the gap since there is no stile to impede access to the multiple adjustable shelves within.  The doors are also fitted with lower privacy panels to conceal books or other items below that will not be visible.  The entire door assemblies are framed by intricately detailed full length columns with turnings, fluting, spiral fluting, and quatrefoil ovelay on the pediments, with a bold multi-tiered and molded base supported by turned feet completing the affair.
