19th Century French Louis XVI Neoclassical Mahogany Bookcase ~ Bibliotheque is a marvel of style and craftsmanship, rendered from fine imported mahogany to create an instant family heirloom that will last for generations!  In a design that could be considered a barrister's bookcase because of the relatively short height of the piece, the casework features stately neoclassical architecture inspired by ancient Greek and Roman designs, including two independent side cabinets stepped out from the centered open-shelf casework.  The step-front design is defined by the incredibly complex molding detail, with enhancements including fully fluted pilasters on each corner accented by cast bronze bell flowers above, and rosettes towards the bast, with small rosettes on the raised panel at the bottom of the door which boasts a 3/4 arched glazed panel on the upper part of the door allowing one to admire and appreciate the collection within.  There's a matching bronze key guard, of course, and both doors open to reveal a total of ten adjustable shelves plus the floor surface, of course.  The center is slightly recessed, and features four adjustable shelves for five total surfaces, creating an easily accessible place for frequently used items or books.  A tailored multi-tiered base below provides support, but is overshadowed by the intricate molded detail of the crown above, finished with four rosettes, a brace of foliate sprays with ribbon, and a center foliate embellishment all rendered in luxurious cast bronze.
