19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Bookcase represents a stately expression of classical style that truly defies time itself!  A multi-tiered crown overlooks the bonnet carved with Greek wave flanked by three dimensional rosettes on each corner, which in turn appear atop fluted pilasters topped with corbels which flank the two doors.  Each door consists of the upper two thirds finely molded and fitted with glass to allow an excellent view of the items displayed within, and a lower one third a stunningly gorgeous relief carving of an oval form surrounded by floral garlands and ribbon.  An astragal separates the doors which when opened wide, thanks to the outboard brass hinges, provide an unobstructed access to the spacious interior fitted with five adjustable shelves and the lower section divided into four cubby holes.  Of course the lower section falls behind the lower panels when the doors are closed, allowing discreet storage.  Below, a pair of fluted drawers provide even more utility, with a tier of bold molding to mirror the crown on top, and finally bun feet.
