19th Century French Renaissance Revival Bookcase is a feast for the eyes, especially those who appreciate fine sculpture!  The carved embellishment begins with a roaring lion in full relief centered on the bonnet, and flanked by grapevines with grapes, framed by two bold rosettes.  Under the rosettes are the upper cornerposts lavished with bounty-of-the-earth motifs in full relief.  In between, beautifully bordered original hand-rolled glass allows one to view your books or keepsakes on the adjustable shelves inside.  Supporting the top tier is a bottom tier that extends slightly outward from the wall, and possessing the lion's share (pardon the pun) of the relief sculpture for the piece.  Fully laden grapevines dance across the pair of drawers with the vines themselves carved to serve as the drawer pulls.  Framed to perfection and against a backdrop of gardening references, the two masterworks on the cabinet doors below depict baskets bursting with the bounty of the harvest, with grape clusters on the left work, and a variety of fruits on the right.  Doors open to reveal capacious storage.  A bold foliate pattern graces the extended base molding below, supported by bun feet.
