Antique French Gothic & Wrought Iron Bookcase ~ Bibliotheque from Toulouse is a beautifully crafted piece from southwestern France displaying an obvious influence of Spanish design being close to that border.  The architecture reflects a refined interpretation of the Gothic tradition.  The doors are entirely hand-forged wrought iron, constructed in the manner of decorative gates and fitted directly into the oak case.  The design features a classic fleur-de-lis motif, a timeless symbol in French decorative arts, giving the façade a strong timeless presence and unmistakable character.  Shelves within are mounted on adjustable brackets.
The lower cabinet is defined by linenfold panels, a hallmark of Gothic design, adding depth and texture.  Original hardware remains intact, preserving the authenticity and integrity of the piece.  The oak construction brings warmth and substance, beautifully complementing the strength and detail of the ironwork.
