Grand 19th Century French Renaissance Revival Triple Hunt Bookcase is a work of the cabinetmaker's and sculptor's art on a large scale, perfect for a larger room!  Designed with triple arched glazing above, and lavish relief carvings on three doors of the cabinet below, it serves both as a stunning display case and a capacious storage cabinet with incredible flair and classical grace!  The architecture of the piece was inspired by the neoclassical movement reviving the styles of ancient Greece and Rome, with a bold Crown molding over twin pilasters above and below, trimmed with a generous base molding set upon bun feet.  The arches of the three doors above also are reminiscent of Roman colonnades.  However, the piece is unmistakably French in execution with elaborate hand-carved sculpture from top to bottom.  On the bonnet is centered a family crest flanked by elaborate floral and foliate sprays, all situated underneath two bold tiers of acanthus leaf and egg & dart molded detail.  On each corner above appears a large acanthus rosette, situated over the corners which are lavished with bounty-of-the-earth, or della robia, carvings including pomegranates, fully laden grapevines, various fruits, shells and a grand corbel on top of it all.  The three arched and glazed panels of the upper doors are wrapped in foliate molding and open to reveal all original shelves mounted on adjustable shelf supports to give you countless configurations for display.  Just below the upper tier are three drawers carved to complement the crown above, even including the rosettes which are smaller versions used on the corners as well as separating the drawers themselves, each of which is accessed with a pendant pull.  Three large cabinet doors appear under the drawers, each displaying an individual work of art flanked by cornerposts that are designed to mimic the upper tier.  On the left appears the results of a very successful fishing expedition, while on the right a fowling hunt, and at the center a majestic lion's head surrounded by an intricate heraldic crest with foliates, with all three rendered in glorious full relief.
Truly an amazing masterpiece!
