Napoleon III Period French Louis XVI Mahogany & Bronze Bookcase ~ Bibliotheque is a work of art executed by the master artisans of Paris during the reign of France's last monarch.  The cabinetry is made from exotic imported mahogany from the Americas, prized even then for its beauty, strength and longevity.  What the masters did then was perform artistic wonders by the painstaking inlay of finely figured brass designs directly into the face of the wood so that the result was flush with the surface.  The resulting inlay appears on the boldly molded crown and on the apron below, as well as on the sides of the beveled glazing of the doors.  The remaining panels are outlined in brass trim, and accented with brass rosettes.  Even the corners are adorned with full length fluted columns, with the flutes fitted with brass and cast capitals and pediments to complete the corner posts.  Even the front legs have brass accents, with the most amazing accent being the ostrich plume finials atop the columns over acanthus rosettes for an amazing finishing touch.  Inside, the original adjustable shelves allow one an almost unlimited variety of configurations to display your books, collection or family memorabilia.
