Pair 19th Century French Renaissance Carved Bookcases are the ideal choice for adding majestic symmetry to any room!  Designed as a pair, they are virtually identical except for the primary carvings on the lower door panels, one which depicts the bounty of the sea, while the other a successful bird hunt.  The common style elements on both consist of prominent heraldic crests at the top flanked by  turned finials set atop finely carved multi-tiered crown molding.  The bonnet is defined by stylized lions' heads with foliates framed by acanthus rosettes which appear on the corners over the top tier of clockwise & counter-clockwise barley twist columns.  The columns in turn frame the upper hand-rolled glazing with each piece of glass framed by finely carved detail.  A slight step-front in the design begins the lower tier, with a full-width drawer carved to match the bonnet above, appearing over the aforementioned carved sculptures of the door panels.  Each door panel is also framed in a similar fashion to the glass above, then bracketed by barley twist columns.  Bold base molding and bun feet complete the style effect.  Top and bottom doors, as well as drawers, open up to reveal copious amounts of storage and display space inside, adding enormously to the functionality of this unique pair.
