PAIR Antique Italian Renaissance Walnut Bookcases ~ Vitrines are a splendid find, and ideal for creating symmetry and Old World ambiance in any room!  Hand-crafted from solid Italian walnut and embellished with carvings and panels sculpted from heart walnut, they exude a richness and opulence that is at once understated and elegant.  Cherubs situated like caryatids atop uniquely carved sconces adorned with symbols of learning and music flank each door at the top corners.  The Greek wave motif that ripples across the crown molding overlooks the display space glazed on three sides with the original beveled glass.  Two interior glass shelves are included for each vitrine, which not only provide display options but allow all ambient light to permeate the interior, making artificial lighting unnecessary.  Each full-height door includes a stunning lower panel carved in glorious full relief depicting stylized foliate and floral motifs behind which is a lower compartment of the interior perfect for more discreet storage.  Original intricately cast brass key guards add a nice touch, while bold molding, finely carved molding trim and bun feet complete the look.
