19th Century French Renaissance Revival Side Chair was hand-crafted by talented artisans during the Napoleon III Period, and features a blend of classical architecture with Renaissance-inspired carved detail for a splendid timeless look.  The boldly arched seat back crown is centered with a lifelike lion's head, set on an heraldic crest flanked by mythical gryffins.  Two large carved finials appear at the seatback posts, just above large rosettes and the carved & turned column supports which frame the upholstered seatback surrounded by two tiers of carved molding.  A flourish of acanthus fronds appears at the bottom of the seatback overlooking the generous seat.  Both the seat and seatback are upholstered in mohair.  Below, support is provided by turned supports and stretchers with a carved apron stretcher across the front accented by more rectangular rosettes.
