Antique Rustic Dutch Painted Rush Seat Chair will add a special charm to your favorite room! Constructed in the classic Rustic European fashion with turned stretchers supporting turned legs and a subtly scrolled apron which supports the rush seat which in this case remains in very good condition, probably thanks to the use of a cushion for decades. The painted adornment on the framework highlights wildflowers, a theme continued on the uprights of the seat back, which are topped with turned finials, and connected by five horizontal splats, each of which is hand-painted with a different scene. The top most scene is a quaint village along the water with a gaff-rigged fishing boat lazing down the waterway under an overcast sky. Cows being milked, and different scenes from the same village with fishing boats and windmills are painted on the remaining four splats. Even the back side is lavished with intricate wildflower and foliate bordering from top to bottom, making this chair a visual feast from any angle!
