Antique French Louis XVI Sack of Pearls Crystal & Bronze Chandelier represents the rare opportunity to acquire a sublime work of art that also happens to provide lighting for your room!  This exquisite chandelier fitted with countless circular cut crystals hanging in a form commonly called "sack of pearls" is the epitome of the classical style that was revived during the reign of Louis XVI and since has gone by his name.  The bronze crown was cast with incredible detail and features a pair of floral swags embracing the topmost strands of the crystals, smallest in size at the top and graduating to larger sizes before reaching the main body of the fixture below.  The body consists of an unusual interpretation of the Greek coin form, using laurel swags to define the piercings in the hoop, with decorative acanthus crests with olive branches alternating with the three classically-inspired sconces each with a pair of bobeches and mounts on scrolled arms emanating from the bronze corbel which is topped with a flaming urn design.  The crystals then descend in gradually smaller sizes to gather like a sack back at the center where appears an acanthus plume and pomegranite pendant.  Eight lights on the aforementioned sconces are external, while five lights within illuminate the crystals in a backlighting effect, with the entire affair truly breathtaking when lit!
Truly an amazing find, one which we don't expect to ever see again!
