A delightful pair of 18th century Dutch Delft tiles, hand painted in cobalt blue on a white tin glazed ground and presented in a later wood frame. Each tile carries its own whimsical scene, one depicting a standing figure and the other a figure in motion, both accented by the traditional corner motifs so closely associated with antique Delft.
Delft tiles were once used throughout Dutch interiors to bring artistry and narrative into everyday spaces, often set around fireplaces, kitchens, and passageways. Their enduring appeal lies in that marriage of usefulness and charm, with each hand painted image offering a glimpse into the decorative imagination of the period. Framed as a wall plaque, this pair makes a distinctive accent on its own and layers beautifully into a collected interior.
A separate framed plaque composed of three additional 18th century Delft tiles is also available.
