Pair 18th Century Hand-Painted Faience Plates were hand-painted and fired in the same year as the birth of the United States of America!  Crafted by master ceramicists using wood-fired kilns, the glazing and painting was done entirely by hand, and depicts classic architectural features with a Baroque-inspired green bordering style.  A rarity amongst such collectibles, the year of production was hand-painted on the back, perhaps by a French artist sympathetic to the new republic that his country had helped to blossom in that historical year.
