Graceful in form and richly detailed, this pair of Boch Frères Keramis lidded urns has remained in a private collection for over a century, preserving both their integrity and their original decorative impact.  The surfaces have developed a soft, natural patina over time, lending warmth to the crisp hand-painted decoration and underscoring their authenticity.
Executed in hand-painted faience at the Boch Frères Keramis manufactory in La Louvière, Belgium, the urns reflect the enduring influence of the Dutch Delft tradition, interpreted here with a fuller, more nuanced palette.  The decoration is structured with cobalt blue outlining scrolling ornament and stylized florals, complemented by tones of green, ochre, and iron red.  Each piece was painted by hand, and the subtle variations between the two confirm the individuality of the decorator’s work.
Importantly, both urns retain their hand-painted factory marks, along with decorator’s and pattern numbers, providing a direct link to the maker and the artist within the workshop.  This level of identification, combined with their survival as a true matched pair with original lids, is increasingly uncommon.
Well-proportioned and visually balanced, the pair offers both decorative strength and historical clarity—equally suited for placement on a mantel, console, or as a focal point within a composed interior.
