19th Century Dutch Drop Leaf Table ~ Demilune Console is one of the more unusual tables we've carried in the past three decades!  Hand-crafted from solid planks and turned from solid timbers of old growth oak, its design features a single leaf that folds down, and when open, one of the three boldly styled legs is actually split and mounted on a gate to swing out and provide support, creating a circular table in the wink of an eye!  Tuck it against the wall when not in use, or leave it open ~ the choice is yours.  Hand-select planks form the top, with a tailored beveled edge.  With the leaf down, it creates a demilune shaped console that very few will notice is expandable.  When open, it features two finely molded aprons with boldly styled corbels that tie into the large plinth blocks that serve as the cornerposts and upon which the large turned urn-form column legs are mounted.  Another large plinth block below, with bun feet, completes the support structure.  One of the legs, urn form and all, is split vertically down the middle and hinged so that half the leg becomes a swing out gate to support the leaf when open.  Amazing craftsmanship, ingenious design, and versatility, all in one piece!
