19th Century French Louis XV Marble Top Giltwood Console is an exuberant expression of the Rococo style boldly sculpted from solid fruitwood then given a gilt finish that has achieved a splendid patina over the past century!  The bowed front and serpentine sides of the apron create the form for the work, with a choice selection of Carrara marble carefully contoured and beveled to serve as the top surface.  Incredibly luxurious stylized expressions of shell, floral and foliate motifs appear in abundance in glorious full relief over all surfaces, creating a combination of symmetry and asymmetry that is the hallmark of the style.  The boldly scrolled cabriole legs appear to be enhanced with floral garlands spiraling down to the apron below, which is framed by the leg tips lavished with shell, floral and foliate designs, and centered with a stretcher boasting an impressive Rococo sculpture defining the style itself.  Perfect for making a large visual statement in a small, cozy space!
