19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Carrara Marble Top Demilune Console is a masterpiece in classical architecture and style!  The generously rounded corners give it a demilune shape, but the squared off center keeps the depth down to under 16", perfect for high-traffic areas or cozy rooms.  One immediately notices the luxuriously veined beveled Carrara marble top, contoured to follow the casework below including plinth block bump-outs over the front legs, which consist of Corinthian capitals atop tapered and fluted shafts merging to lotus blossoms then lower plinth blocks with acanthus rosettes, and finally egg-shaped feet carved with fletching.  All four legs are interconnected with gracefully arched stretchers highlighted with beaded trim and centered with an acanthus plume finial.  The apron deserves note, completely adorned with neoclassical foliate scrolls and centered with an urn, flanked by floral rosettes just above the front legs.  The gold finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, as well.
