19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Marble Top Console represents a balance between the ornate and the austere, with clear classical expression in architecture and subtle decorative accents making it ideal for a wide variety of decors.  Topped with a splendid piece of marble that borders upon the description of onyx stone, the color is very neutral allowing it to blend with a wide variety of color schemes while still providing a distinctive, refined surface.  Contoured to follow the casework below, it is most obviously original to the piece.  The console itself consists of a finely molded and widely spaced fluting on the apron, curved on the sides, and accented with the insertion of two vertically aligned rosettes that serve as the capitals above the beautifully carved, tapered and fluted legs.  The legs are also joined together below with a reverse-bowed stretcher accented with matching fluting and centered with a turned finial and pendant finial atop a singular block.  Teardrop shaped feet complete the look.
