19th Century Grand Italian Hand-Carved Walnut Hall Tree is a glorious representation of the revival of the Renaissance style that occurred during the waning years of the 1800s. Crafted from richly hued Italian walnut, it features a rectilinear, almost classical architecture including bold molding details from crown to bun feet, but in between are works of the sculptor's art in abundance! The heraldic crest at the top, centered between arches, commands one's attention, presiding over a crown adorned with large rosettes, with carved corbels underneath helping to define two amazing full relief panels depicting stylized Romanesque urns with florals, foliates and dolphins. In between the panels is a full height beveled mirror over a little jardiniere. Umbrella or walking cane racks flank the jardiniere, with their adornment consisting of yet another three panels with more shield crests, a lion's head and scrolled foliates. Finely detailed brass hangers complete the look. Amazing detail!
