18th Century Frencah Secretary ~ Commode is a marvelous example of the cabinetmaker's art! Hand-crafted from dense, old-growth oak to last for centuries, it features a "slant front" design typical of the genre, with a shallow table top transitioning to a drop-front panel that hinges open to create a writing surface while simultaneously revealing interior cubby holes and storage drawers. Two supports pull out from below to create a sturdy platform for writing or using your laptop / tablet. Three drawers below provide copious storage, making it as functional as it is attractive. The main visual appeal comes from the artistic sculpture of the wood, primarily on the drop front, and also appearing on the contoured drawer facades, with motifs including shell, foliate, and wildflower designs. Brass knobs, drawer pulls and key guards complete the look.
