19th Century Country French Writing Table in Stripped Oak speaks to a simpler time before computers and social media, when folks that wanted to communicate over distance used the written word.  Many households employed small tables with drawers that were desk height, scattered throughout the home, to have a convenient place to stop and write something down when the idea struck.  This example is a rustic version of the classic writing table, or writing desk, and was rendered by capable rural artisans out of the locally available old-growth oak using time honored joinery methods, a simplistic turned leg design, solid plank top, "H" stretcher for strength, and of course a nicely sized drawer fitted with two turned knobs.  A sign of refinement is evident in the workmanship, with a beveled top edge and rounded, notched corners to eliminate sharp edges, with the same treatment on the plinth blocks below.  Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary, non-toxic process that retains the natural beauty and patina of the wood.
