19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Writing Table combines classic architecture with modern sensibilities creating a table that can be used for a wide variety of purposes, all while exhibiting timeless style!  Crafted from beautiful French walnut, it features a uniquely French table top design which consists of a basic rectangle where the short sides have been rounded off in a demilune fashion to completely eliminate sharp corners.  The double beveled edging all around only enhances the effect.  The apron below is carved completely around as well, featuring a repeating quatrefoil overlay pattern framed by fine molding above and below, and interrupted by plinth blocks above the legs carved with acanthus leaves, all in rich relief.  Centered on the long straight sides is a framed segment carved with olive branches held together with flowing ribbon, and an acanthus flourish mounted underneath.  The latter serves as the handle to open the spacious and convenient drawer, whereas on the opposite side the carved detail simply serves as symmetrical embellishment.  The amazing detail doesn't stop there, as each of the tapered legs is fitted with a laurel wreath collar atop the spiral fluting, leading the eye down to a smaller plinth block also carved with smaller rosettes in relief, serving as the juncture of the feet below carved to depict a bulb with fresh shoots, while also connected to double lyre shaped stretchers that add structural strength in a graceful manner, finished with a turned urn finial at the center.
