19th Century French Renaissance Desk with Dolphins is a remarkably sculpted work with fully carved apron all around, making it a great choice for placement in the center of the room if so desired.  Hand-crafted from old-growth oak, it features a trio of drawers nestled into the apron, with acanthus fronds on every corner, and two interesting cabinets built into the leg structures on each side between the exquisite dolphin carvings that form the legs for the piece.  The dolphin has been revered in France for centuries, and one of the affectionate nicknames for the heir to the throne has traditionally been dauphin.  Here the sea creatures take on a more mythical form, with their tails scrolled like an escargot, and heads just above the lower base which is elevated by four paw feet on each corner.  An exceptional and unique choice for a truly timeless look!
