19th Century French Renaissance Revival Double-Faced Desk in Stripped Oak is a remarkable example of the cabinetmaker's art!  Solid planks of dense, old-growth oak were used to form the top, surrounded and trimmed by beveled oak planks including mitered corners for a finished effect from all angles.  The apron is amazing, with two drawers concealed in the fully carved apron on one side, and the "front" side identical except for the lack of wooden knobs to access the drawers.  Corbels appear between the panels, with scaled down versions of the look on the shorter sides.  Boldly sculpted lions' heads appear on each corner to protect the piece.  The apron tier is supported by carved colonnades mounted to Doric capitals above four bold urn-formed columns.  The columns are in turn mounted to an exquisitely carved leg runner with lion's head and paw enhanced by foliate carvings and connected together with a centered trestle.  The sheer natural beauty of the old growth oak is enhanced by our professional stripping process that retains the patina of the wood.  Perfect for placing in the center of the room!
