19th Century French Renaissance Writing Table ~ Desk with Dolphins is an extraordinary example of the revival of the style that occurred during and just after the reign of Napoleon III. Sporting a double-molded rectangular top with the corners mitered, it presents no sharp corners into the room's space, making it ideal as a desk, a library table or as a center table for any masculine decor. The apron is boldly carved in full relief all around in an elaborate foliate design, with lion's heads appearing on each of the four mitered corners, underneath which appear corbels then lantern style pendant finials. Four pedestal legs provide support, each complementing the pendants on the corners, and are affixed to an "H" shaped platform created to depict four dolphins connected by an elaborately molded trestle. A full width drawer adds convenience and storage to the artistry.
