19th Century Gothic Walnut Writing Desk ~ End Table is a superlative example of the revival of the style that occurred during the late Napoleon III period.  Rendered from select French walnut, it features a tailored beveled top overlooking an apron adorned on all four sides, making it compatible for placement anywhere in the room.  The adornment consists of quatrefoil motifs in various expressions with an ever-so-subtle gold trim highlight.  Drawers are fitted with forged iron bale pulls and open to reveal surprisingly capacious storage.  Spiral fluted columns form the legs, which are connected with a classic "H" stretcher below upon which an open gallery effect was carved, featuring spiral and fishscale motifs on the columns with two expressions of the fleur de lys and two more of intriguingly shaped rosettes designed to follow the contours of the moorish arches.  What a timeless way to create a useful surface, a student desk, or a great place to park your laptop!
