Antique French Louis XV Walnut Double-Faced Desk

Antique French Louis XV Walnut Double-Faced Desk is a superlative example of fine French craftsmanship melded with what is considered the finest furniture wood indigenous to Europe!  The sumptuous French walnut has been sculpted to create a naturalistic form typical of the style, with contoured and beveled top surrounding a faux leather writing surface.  Five drawers appear on the "business" side of the desk, each gracefully contoured and hand-carved with shell, floral and foliate motifs, leading the eyes to the boldly scrolled cabriole legs on each corner, each carved with shell and escargot motifs.  The "front" facade is not contoured, but still carved in the same five panel configuration as the "business" side, with the same trio of sculpted subjects, making it perfect for placement anywhere in the room, even the center!  Drawers open deep to reveal capacious storage.  Cast brass key guards add a wonderful finishing touch.
