Antique French Louis XVI Mahogany Secretary ~ Cabinet represents a unique variation on a design that serves a variety of functions, all executed in neoclassical style! Crafted from imported mahogany, it features a rectilinear design with panels enhanced by gold quarter round molding on all three sides. The main facade is framed by 3/4 fluted columns for corner posts, the top of which has a jaloused cap and the bottom are legs tipped in brass caps. The lower two doors are fitted with finely detailed cast key guards and open to reveal surprising shelved storage. Just above, the main cabinet door with cast brass key guard drops down with brass supports to reveal an embossed leather writing surface, small drawers fitted with brass knobs, two cubby holes and a compartment. Above is a full width drawer fitted with brass ring pulls with guards, and to top it off, beveled Carrara marble contoured to follow the casework lines below. The ideal home office or student's desk!
