Antique French Louis XVI Walnut Desk by Hirler of Alsace is a remarkable example of the revival of classic styles that has occurred dozens of times since the days of the ancient Greeks and Romans.  This example was rendered by talented artisans employed by Hirler out of Mulhouse, a charming rural community in the Alsace region near the borders of Germany and Switzerland.  The tailored architecture is enhanced by relief carvings of Greek wave and urns with swags, and includes foliate accents.  Finished on all four sides, it is an ideal choice for placement anywhere in the room, especially the middle for all to appreciate.  Fine molded detail enhances the rich natural beauty of the indigenous wood.  Support is provided by four tapered and fluted legs.  The center drawer combines with two cabinets, one with a pull-out surface and the other with two interior drawers for amazing functionality.  Note the maker's label.
