Antique French Renaissance Walnut Desk ~ Bureau Plat was found along the southern coast of France, and emulates the styles of Italian and Spanish artisans immediately to the east and west, with lyre-shaped, scrolled legs on each end centered with a turned column for an intriguing twist on the genre.  The aforementioned columns are connected by a full-width trestle artfully contoured and hand-carved to match the drawer casework above.  On the business side of the desk, three spacious drawers are fitted, carved with Renaissance-inspired patterns in bas relief, and fitted with cast bronze ring pulls in guards.  The sides and room side of the desk are also carved in bas relief with the same flowing scrollwork for visual appeal from any angle.  The boldly edged top has been carved with a repeating acanthus plume motif all around as a special finishing touch, providing a framework for the luxurious walnut plank top.  Ideal for the 21st century executive!
