Antique Italian Renaissance Revival Walnut Leather Top Desk

Antique Italian Renaissance Revival Walnut Leather Top Desk is a splendid example of the traditional styling and craftsmanship that Italian artisans have kept viable for centuries!  Using local walnut, a generous writing surface was created featuring an embossed leather top surrounded by a generous walnut apron with nice overhangs.  The drawer tier below sports two drawers with two wooden knobs each, with scrollwork carved into the facades.  A pair of subtle corbels appear on each apron at the corner, providing a framework for each apron, all carved with fletching motif, leading the eye down to the boldly scrolled supports on each end, which are in turn carved with fletching and foliates, finished with bold lions' paws feet.  The supports are also connected with an undulating stretcher sporting its own carved detail for a wonderful finishing touch.  Finished on all four sides, it's a great choice for placement anywhere in the room!
