Set of 8 Antique Liegoise Louis XIV Dining Chairs were meticulously hand-crafted by the master artisans of the storied region around Liege.  Utilizing dense, old-growth indigenous oak, frameworks were created which include seatback posts that are one piece of wood from the floor to the top of the seatback.  Each front leg is formed from a single timber, and each apron section is a single plank.  Joined together using time-honored techniques, the frames were then carved as one unit, depicting stylized shell and foliate motifs, including upturned fronds just above the four cloven hoof feet.  The triple arched seatback crown is positioned above the vertical slat design which has been contoured for comfort, and features the most artistic display of wood sculpting, with a bold shell at the center flanked by wildflowers, foliage, cross-hatching and stylized shell designs.  Truly an example of timeless artisanry!  The original leather seats are worn and need to be replaced with your coordinating fabric.
