Set of Six Antique French Louis XVI Giltwood Dining Chairs with Caned Backs are a splendid example of the revival of the neoclassical style which continues to be a phenomenon every century since the ancient Greek and Roman civilization first established the genre!  This set features contoured oval seatbacks caned for lightweight comfort, perfect for warmer climates, and also making them easy to move back and forth at the table.  Seats are designed for maximum comfort and covered in linen just waiting for you to select your perfect complementary fabric to finish your room with flair!  Hand-carved embellishments include spiral ribbon encircling the cane, with a bow at the crown.  Spiral ribbon also is used as bordering around the apron, enhanced with plinths carved with rosettes appearing above the tapered, fluted and reeded legs.  The gold finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, only adding to the set's timeless allure!
