19th Century French Louis XVI Oval Parquet Dining Table with Ormolu is a study in Neoclassical elegance!  Utilizing solid oak and oak checkerboard parquet for the top, the artisans also employed the signature French bordering in dark heart walnut around the parquet on the top, defining the apron, and creating panels on the base below separating the oak from figured maple for an intriguing visual effect.  The oval shape is perhaps the most space-friendly design, eliminating sharp corners yet still allowing maximum seating given the size of the table.  A large, paneled base has been recessed back from the apron edge to provide the most legroom.  The most eye-catching feature, however, is the cast bronze ormolu mounts, with four Greek wave plaques appearing on the sides and ends of the apron, large laurel pendants attached to the corner posts, and square bronze rosettes directly underneath the laurels.  Our proprietary stripped finish retains the natural patina and character of the wood leaving a more casual, soft visual presence, while the bronze introduces a more formal classical architectural feature for a stellar combination!
