Antique Country French Farm Table ~ Trestle Table was fashioned using time-honored techniques handed down for centuries from solid, old-growth oak to literally last for generations! Thick planks of the dense wood comprise the top, which is over seven feet in length. The top is held by a structure of four turned columns resting upon lateral timbers with cut down edges to make them foot-friendly. Assembly is courtesy of pegged mortise & tenon joinery, a method proven by many centuries of continuous use in Europe. The legs are connected with a single timber, or trestle, held in place with shims cut in a wedge shape so that every 20 or 30 years one can give them a whack and tighten up the table for another couple of decades of daily use!
