Antique French Louis XIV Painted Dining Table combines both elegance and casual flair into one versatile piece. The solid plank top is very straightforward and quite substantial, and is supported by a recessed, shallow apron that provides maximum knee space underneath. The apron is trimmed in gold molding for a nice touch, but the leg supports provide the most visual impact with their grandiose scrolled design centered with an elaborate foliate design that appears on each end. The leg structures are recessed from the ends of the table to afford better legroom for those seated at the head and foot of the table. The foliate centerpiece leads the eye out to the massive scrolls that are then connected to the curvaceous legs which are mounted to a crosspiece that features tailored beveling and structural stability. The entire table sports a patinaed, slightly distressed painted finish that is charming, enhanced by the gold painted raised carving details and bordering.
