This grand Country French dining table has the scale and strength of the great rural tables made for gathering a household around one generous surface. Its thick elm plank top stretches nearly eight feet, revealing the breadth of timber required to build a table of this size.
The wood has acquired a deep brown patina, with variations in tone and grain that give the long, simple surface its beauty. Two substantial pedestals support the top, their scrolling profiles, carved contours and broad cross feet lending movement to an otherwise disciplined form. Set well back from the ends, they allow guests to sit comfortably around the table while giving its length a strong visual balance.
