Crafted in Spain from thick, solid oak timbers, this dining table has the generous proportions and enduring construction that make Spanish country furniture so desirable. The broad plank top reveals the grain and natural character of the oak beneath its stripped finish. Below, each trestle support has been sculpted into a lyre shaped form, with splayed feet that give the long table a firm foundation.
Heavy wrought iron, forged by a blacksmith, braces the oak supports and rises toward the underside of the top. Its bold curves and scrolled ends are characteristic of Spanish table making, bringing the strength of iron together with the warmth of carved timber. The substantial plank top and open trestle construction leave generous space beneath the table for comfortable dining. Beautifully formed in both wood and iron, this vintage Spanish table offers the scale for a large gathering and the craftsmanship to be appreciated long after the meal is over.
