Grand 19th Century French Napoleon III Neoclassical Walnut Mirror is a magnificent example of master French craftsmanship, rendered by artisans from sumptuous French walnut to impress everyone who is fortunate enough to gaze upon it!  The neoclassical architecture is immediately apparent, with a stately rectilinear form defined by a strong base board at the bottom, upwards from which emanate the two side pilasters with molded bases adorned with folaite sprays, transitioning into fluting then topped with Corinthian capitals for a look that harks back to ancient Greece and Rome!  The pilasters flank the enormous beveled mirror that is framed in hand-carved egg & dart all around.  Above the mirror is the multi-faceted cornice, centered with a framed Greek coin panel with rosettes in the coins, flanked by a brace of fluted panels that complement the pilasters, then finally rosettes on each side above the pilasters them selves.  Bold molded detail defines the cornice, especially on top where the arched crown appears, resplendent in full relief carvings of floral and foliate sprays emanating from the central heraldic crest that overlaps the top and bottom moldings in a display of sculpture that is magnificent to behold!
