19th Century French Louis Philippe Period Silvered Mirror is one of the most popular designs we've carried in over three decades in the business.  With a tailored, yet elegant look, this style works with just about any decor.  Here we have an example in gilded silver, a departure from the typical gold, making it even more desirable.  The size is great for cozy rooms, powder rooms, hallways, and the like.  The simplicity of the design is enhanced by the complex contours of the molding, which have also been carved with subtle intaglio designs depicting foliate motifs prior to the layering of the silver. The silvering has achieved a level of distressing that enables this keepsake to especially work with more casual decors.  No longer common is the fact that it retains its original four plank backing which was designed to protect the expensive silvering on the back side of the glass.
