19th Century French Louis XV Painted Mirror is a stunning example of the style, with a soft gray painted finish that emphasizes the intricate detail that appears all across the arched top as well as the bottom corners.  Two birds appear to be admiring the flowers and foliage that cascade down from the peak centered with an elaborately stylized shell motif, a classic Rococo style element, with floral highlights dancing around the top.  Shell and acanthus leaf motifs adorn the shoulders, and again on the bottom corners, with an ever-so-fine demilune detailing immediately surrounding the beveled mirror itself.  The painted finish has just begun to acquire some lovely patina.  Scaled on a relatively unusual low height to width ratio, it will work in rooms with high mantels or low ceilings.
