19th Century French Louis XVI Gilded Mirror is a splendid example of the magnificent neoclassical style that has been revived every century since the days of ancient Greece and Rome! This example features fully a decorated framework completely surrounding the mirror, making it a good choice for over a buffet, mantel, or free-hanging. The frame starts with beaded trim around the glass, then a bold relief pattern of foliates comprises the majority of the display, accentuated by foliate corner extensions and a rosette on each side midway. The crowning glory is a stunning floral wreath with laurel sprays serving as a backdrop for the torchere and carquois de fleche, timeless symbols of the power and longevity of the French monarchy. The silvering of the mirror has been protected by a new backing to provide decades of enjoyment.
